Hi Maria and Craig, I am doing the March challenge after eating a regular diet, but since starting the challenge I’m loosing a lot of hair. My hair was quite thin and fine my whole life, but loosing so much of it is depressing. I am on Synthroid since my thyroid was removed in 2012. Do you have any experience with people loosing hair on carnivore challenge? And what to eat to stop the shedding?

    • Craig Emmerich Craig Emmerich says:

Two things. First, some hair shedding, can happen with any major change in diet. It will stop and go back after a few weeks or months.

But you might also want to get your thyroid levels checked as you may now be over medicated. We have many clients that have to reduce their thyroid medication’s eating this way.

Great speaker. Relaxed, relatable and enjoyable. I also really enjoyed the dynamic between the three of you. Thank you for posting this.

Was at maintenance weight in February 2019. My weight started creeping back up very slowly during Covid lockdowns too. I snacked more on cheese, nuts and “healthy” chocolate but also drank low carb alcohol during our “home” dates. We’d listened to Facebook concerts and danced in our living room. Started working out again when gym reopened but these new snacking habits stayed. I was always “Keto” but with the added butter, cheese, nuts and alcohol, my weight crept up 20 lbs by this January so I joined this challenge on a whim in February and almost forgot about it. I actually wasn’t even prepared when March 1st rolled around. I started March 2nd and have really learned a lot about myself during this month. Thinking about doing the Health Assessment with Maria next as I cold turkey quit my BP and thyroid meds in January of this year. I don’t recommend anyone do that and neither does anyone else. I just said, “Something’s not working.” My BP would drop too low at times and I’d feel so bad. My hair was falling out all over the house during the winter months. Anyway, I started taking one drop of Lugol’s iodine most every day, will get my labs run again next month and I always monitor my BP. I am mostly borderline hypertensive but stress definitely caused spikes so started BP meds last year. I hated them but my BP definitely went down, too much at times. Adding LMNT this month surprisingly hasn’t elevated my BP. I was scared at first to use LMNT but I am absolutely loving it.

Another great motivational interview today! Thank you so much for sharing.
I am 59 years old disabled women who went into menopause back in 2016 & I am not on any hormone therapy. I just saw my GP Doctor for some wrist/hand pain & my right ear has been having constant “spasms”. (Feels like someone is constantly blowing up my ear canal with a balloon.)
I get the feeling my doctor thinks I’m a hypochondriac, but honestly my body is just a hot mess from 40 years of abuse. I was raised to ignore your pains & carry on. So I am terrible at listening to my body, even after my multiple spinal surgeries, 2 back fractures, shoulder surgery, multiple carpal tunnel surgeries, 2 c-sections (which they never did put my organs back in correctly, they easily twist & get caught up under my rib cage.) & I have a hiatal hernia & suffer with GERD & I have whole body neuropathy. Yes, I’m real fun at the airport & courthouse & wherever else there may be a giant magnet. Anyways my Dr put me on steroids, which I hate. They are doing absolutely nothing for me. I would much rather be on vitamins & supplements. I’ve been following The Emmerick’s keto way for a while now, & Im now the ketovore challenge also. But Im wondering if I should try to fine tune it all in with an assessment, But where would I begin?
I drink 1 packet of LMNT daily. For supplements I take: oregano iodine drops, Magnesium Glycinate, Potassium Citrate, Super Evening Primrose Oil, a multivitamin for women over 50, D3-K2, flush-free niacin, I take OTC sleeping pills that rarely work for me. (I have not slept thru the night in 25 years, since before my first spinal surgery.) Like Right now Ive been awake for 2 nights & 3 days, I also eat Tums, I try to take aleeve as needed because I hate the prescription meds. My scripts are meloxicam, Omeprazole, Cyclobenzaprine, tramadol & pravastatin. Im sure there are more, just cant remember everything.
Like I said; hot mess! Where would you suggest I start? & what info do I need have ready ahead of time for a consult? I feel like everyone runs when they see me coming because I live with pain daily so to answer what’s my pain on 1-10 scale is a joke for me, my 4 may be a normal persons 10, etc. So no-one seems to want to or knows how to deal with me. If I could just get my weight in check & my health better, I feel like I could have the strength to start all over & hopefully gain some healing. I know I will never be shiny & new again, but to just be a little better would be gratifying. Sorry for the long TMI’s, but thank you for taking the time to read this.

I’m so sorry you have had so many struggles. The health assessment will give you a detailed custom plan for what supplements are best for your body and situation. When to take, how much and all the details. I think that would be a great idea in your situation. As much of the details that you can provide in the assessment will help Maria pick the right options for you.
